MPC 8.3 works fine for me on Win7 and 8.1, both x64. Sometimes I get the same error as you do and a sure fix for me is disabling antivirus to let MPC do the job. A couple of times machine had to be rebooted to get it working but most of the time not a problem and I never meddled with the Compatibility mode. My guess is some MPC program files get blocked by antivirus, at least on my machine it looks that way. Hope it helps.

I am repeating post submitted last year if now somebody has a greater experience using MPC

I have used MPC for compiling topo maps and I found a problem.
I got corresponding img even with DEM for heights but some problems appear on routing. When I tested the map on BaseCamp there are many lines , really connected , that do not perform well the routing. Using the same sources, I did a compilation with Maptk and no problems at all were found.
Does anybody have some experience on that ? Does anybody know how to solve it ?

It is safe to say that your source road shapefiles contain some errors.
Perhaps psychics will be able to answer more precisely.

I follow the process MapEdit+ mp2shp + MPC and as you know , MPC compiles only when there is no error at all. I checked previously all lines are well connected and after compilation some nodes appear as no cennected and the automatic routing does a long loop to connect.

If the shape file contains errors... , do you know the way to detect and coorect them ?.

This is not quite true. For example, the MPC will not react if some roads are not connected in reality or when these polylines don't have all the necessary routing attributes.

It is not convincing, if you did this check in MP format using GPSMapEdit.
Try to check those connections in the road shapefile via ArcGIS or MapInfo at maximum zoom.

It is best to use any professional GIS for this, or MicroGIS Editor at least.

I have appreciated very much all indications you gave me using the tool and configurating _config and _types files. I took a long time to have all custom objects inside it. Those comments allow me to finally get a compilation.
I agree on your first comment , if there is no connection on a couple of lines, MPC does not give error. Nevertheless I checked the connection with my available tolos, f.i. Maptk. But my point is : On specific lines , really connected, manually verified with real routing node with its number, MPC after compilation does not provide routing for this node and makes a go around with a loop. This happen with many nodes, and compiling same map.mp with Maptk resulting a map.img that it does not have such failure.
I have also checked with MicroGis Editor and cleaned up Verify results.
Most probably if I would check my map.mp with other tool I wonder it will not give me failures on those nodes where MPC fails.

If I understand well, sorry to be slow, they could be errors on the mp2shp conversions and I have to check the shape files result.
