Im using the Voice_TTS-nua-eng-Joe-2.zip file but same results with others that Ive tried. Im also getting the phrase "Slow Down" when approaching speedcam even though Im not speeding. Using Svox /Victoria speech engine. As previously mentioned TTS seems to be fine apart from this.
Are these 2 lines required in sys.txt
say_camera_distance=1
say_camera_speed_limit=1
Also the volume is too quiet over headphones. Volume is fine over Primo through my crash helmet headphone speakers but Nextgen only outputs about half that volume in comparison
This causes this. Remove that line from sys.txt, and that bug will go away.
You can try one of these..slightly modified recently and tested yesterday to find that both say on overspeed:
"The speed limit is %s! Slow down."
%s in this case being the variable used for speed limit which is correctly vocalized.

If you are still not getting the speed limit variable, there is something that is interfering with the definition of that variable based on context. If it was a different voice file, it could be in one of the *.lua files within the voice file, or it could be a particular skin that is introducing a conflict. I use Pongo which you could try if you want to see if that makes a difference. Other than that, I really don't know.
Oddly, I had that problem with Primo, and it went away with NextGen.
Once headphones are plugged in, on most Android systems, volume control is passed to DSP Manager which seems to remember settings on a per-app basis. Make sure all your system volumes are still at max after you plug in the headphones with NextGen running. Other than that, I was never able to solve the issue with Primo.

Doubtful, its exactly the same for me on Android

Thanks Mike.
I tried using kph instead of mph and it worked but is not much use to me living in UK. It appears that alterations have been made to cater for Europe and once again UK settings dont work correctly. All of the skins that I have tried give problems. For example we drive on the left hand side of the road over here but when approaching a roundabout the skins give a warning "no left turn" which is absurd.
Is there any way that this version can be fixed to give correct instruction for mph. Im sure that there are many UK users that love this software.
Bit off topic but any idea why Speed Limit Settings keeps defaulting back to 110% after a restart even though I have set them to 100%

If it works, and you want more than just 'basic', you will have to perform and post the translation procedure posted earlier. Or get somebody to do it for you. Then I can add the translated material to the voice file.
There is no such thing as a 'male or female' NextGen voice file. The voice (gender, etc) is controlled by whatever TTS Engine and voice you have installed as the Android System TTS..the Nextgen voice file is merely a template that uses the installed Android voice.
@Mike Hunt and other "insiders":
I still have some problems with TTS.
For example there is a menu Settings->Warnings->Alert Points->Test TTS where you can test some TTS speakouts.
I've at least two tests that are never spoken: "Speed Braker" and "Red Light Camera"
Where the hell are they defined? I've spent hours and hours but without any success yet.....
After many, many testing I found out some things:
1. Everythign before the = in a translation is case sensitive (for example 'Bus lane camera="Busspurüberwachung"' != 'Bus Lane Camera="Busspurüberwachung"')
2. Quite much of the strings to translate can be obtained from "tts-speedcam-eng.zip" file. But not all. Other translation strings came from Language files ("Lang_German.zip" for example)
Does anyone knows the place(es) where the rest of the strings can be found? I already unpacked and greped through the archives with less luck yet....
Does anyone knows a way to plan a route where most of the translatons can be tested?
By the way here is my improved, updated, hand-translated german voice file. Copy it into content/voice/ folder
