Great minds think alike, 'coz i think that's the same file i used to remake the first ford logo on white for dasilvarsa last night. I did it first with the original white background, which looks really nice but you can't see the white boot info i photoshopped in to black instead.

Yes, exact and you can find original logos you can mod by Gir Editor here:

As Caty said, they're made exactly the same as in turboccc's tut using his GIR_Editor. The only difference is that he describes the pre-boot mode flashing method in that post which works fine, however the microSD card method we're using here is easier especially for novices. You may find it as quick to flash using pre-boot though if you're used to using it.

Hi;

I wanted to replace the splash screen on a Nuvi 715 from BMW. I copied the update.gcd file to my HDD and opened with RGN editor. Then, I extracted the boot.bin file. But, when I tried to open it with GIR editor, it complains it only can open gir files and logo files. So I'm stuck. How can I do?

GIR_Editor only opens bin files with gir content. Usually, that's LOGO.BIN files because we're looking to change the image they contain. There are no such images in boot.bin and even if there was any, it wouldn't help you change the 'start up' or boot logo which is contained in region 16 [that's why you'll often see logo.bin referred to as 16.bin btw].

Caty meant for you to extract the image from the logo.bin posted there, which is a BMW image, and save it into your own extracted logo.bin with GIR_Editor. But i think you're wanting to do it the other way around and change from BMW to the standard 'Garmin' logo on boot, is that correct? If so, you can get the complete logo bin for 7x5 US/EU from the initial post here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I've also now uploaded the BMW and AU versions. Just check definitely that your HWID is 0870 before flashing. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

You made something wrong, GirEditor opens logo.bin files.
Try with this from nuvi 37xx:
