Ditto for me. My Win7_x64 installation is 3 years old this month. COMDLG32.OCX has been in the SysWOW64 folder since 2nd April 2012. I guess i updated Visual Basic 6 some 8 days before you Caty.
    comdlg32ocx
Easy answer for this missing file is to update VB it seems.

I took a look at the file list for the VB6 runtime updates and they seem to not have comdlg32.ocx included. With the multitude of updates it's virtually impossible for me to determine which program included the OCX file, but I do have it on my computer, created on 7/22/12. Of course, my version of the file is apparently much older, from 2000.

It's in the manifest shown in the second link posted by Caty:
    comdlg32ocx1

I have never seen the need to patch BaseCamp or Mapinstall.
If you use a USB pen drive, with nuvi files inside, Garmin programs think you have a Nuvi Connected and will gladly load maps to it.

I think you don't know for what the patch is? (to unlock maps/poi/Cityexplorer with jmkg and save maps on directly on HD without USB/SD-Card)

I can't deny it. I missed it! However, according to what I've read on Microsoft's site, that file manifest is for a development environment, not a runtime environment on a PC, despite the name. In other words, you can't simply download and install it on a PC.

Actually i'm the mug not you Strephon! Ive just checked again and that second link with the manifest i imaged is not for Win7_64 at all. It's for these earlier products as shown in this list below the files manifest:

    Properties
    Article ID: 957924 - Last Review: August 21, 2012 - Revision: 2.0
    Applies to

    Windows Vista Service Pack 1
    Windows Vista Business
    Windows Vista Enterprise
    Windows Vista Home Basic
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Server 2008 Datacenter without Hyper-V
Windows Server 2008 Enterprise without Hyper-V
Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems
Windows Server 2008 Standard without Hyper-V
    Windows Server 2008 Datacenter
    Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
    Windows Server 2008 Standard
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

It's an x86 installer so it will look for for the System32 folder not SysWOW64. Regardless it'll need to see a previous installation of VB6 SP6 because i think it's only an update, and if you don't have the earlier install it will baulk anyway. But if you need any of the files it contains you can dl the msi from here:

Extract it with 7zip or similar and then as posted earlier by both dirtbikermp3 & Strephon Alkhalikoi, manually register the required file. To do that, first paste a copy of the required file (e.g. comdlg32.ocx) into SysWOW64. Then open a command line window and run this command:

    regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\comdlg32.ocx

If you have UAC turned on, that command needs to be run as an elevated command prompt.

I have a vague recollection of doing just that after 'pinching' some files from my XP installation for Win7 earlier this year, and comdlg32.ocx may well have been included. If you want only that file so you can use haute's universal patcher, here's the version modified 16th Feb 2010 from VB60SP6-KB2708437-x86-ENU.msi:

    Sorry for any confusion.

Sorry but even my network connection speed is greater then USB. I do not say about harddisk. I get the ready for use update of all possible files of CityNav from Garmin faster than copy just one img file to USB.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    @Giomen
I dunno if you and dirtbikermp3 are misunderstanding what dasilvarsa meant, or maybe i am. I think he's suggesting exactly what i usually do and he puts Garmin (and .system if appropriate) folders etc on a usb stick or sd card to send maps to it, so they can be checked before copying onto the unit. I also do that with Webupdater to get gupdate.gcd and other updates direct from Garmin at times. Perhaps he does that too.

Yes That's exactly what I do.
I call it making a FALSEGARMIN (Copy the Whole Nuvi Contents including the .System Folder to USB PEN DRIVE)
It serves a second purpose which is of an OFF SITE BACKUP
All Garmin programs Basecamp,Mapinstall, Mapsource including Webupdater and MyDashboard are fooled into thinking you have a real Nuvi Connected.
If the Internet connection is faster that USB2, Then the computer will cache the data.

The advantage of using this method is that you don't brick your Nuvi if the Transfer fails halfway for any reason whatsoever.
Using an SD Card connected to the Computer or a VIRTUAL SD is just as safe as using a USB PEN DRIVE.
I prefer the USB PEN DRIVE as I have lots of 4GB's to spare.
