Copyright claims/disclaimer are pretty clear. They are ONLY for the device you have license for. For example, if you buy map for device A, you are allow to use it ONLY on device A. If device B has "lifetime map", ONLY device B gets the map. You can not share/post any map legally because last I checked TomTom don't sell a map to group of people to share! Your analogy of "borrowing sugar" seems to implied that just because you buy map for device C, you can use that map on device D or share it. Which of course, is NOT!
