It's called Intellectual Property Rights which means someone has bought a map they have agreed to accept that it is only for their one, registered device only.
Can you imagine if only one person purchased each TT map they released then shared it around the world then TT would be out of business very quickly indeed!

"Lifetime, free and forever" has to be until TT stop supporting the software/map/device; not when you die or stop driving.
Scenario is you buy a satnav in your newborn babies name and then expect them to keep supporting it with new maps/updates for potentially 100+ years....I don't think so.

still dont understand what REALLY loses TT with these new maps you are posting here. Anyway it was more for fun than actual damage to TT.

    How's that ?

1.These maps were only compatible with old generations of TT devices running max 9.xxx. As far as i know newest devices with os 1x.xxx cant be cr4ck3d. And these old devices are fewer everyday... not to mention few Megane's from 2010 wich may still be alive

    2. Only a part of the owners of old devices would know how to update with these maps using meta and compatible maps, etc.

    3. And from owners from 2) only a few owners from certain countries (eg Germany) could still make updates.

    4. Many occasional users (travelling within same country) with smartphones would download some FREE apps like Waze, and wont buy an expensive TT.

    5. if they think that will persuade somehow owners of old devices to buy the new ones because not finding desired maps from 3rd parties, i think TT gets it all wrong. few to none of the owners who new how to make "manual" updates will pay hundreds of $ for new devices which come with no more fun

Sooo TomTom... WHY SO SERIOUS so ??

PS : tested TomTom Trucker 6000 with latest OFFICIAL Europe map and it sucks on Truck restrictions
