I think you forgot Navteq (aka HERE) and no, it doesn't stay free of charge. Just like tomtom did last week with the iOS app, they will lauch it for Android too and that's when we'll have to start paying.

Navteq ,,Under Nokia this part continued as HERE. In 2015, after Microsoft had taken over Nokia in 2014 and Nokia no longer saw its navigation branch as a core business, HERE was sold for 2.7 billion euros to Audi, BMW and Daimler Benz.

Is TomTom traffic fixed in this release?
    Didn't work in version 1.1.6.

Correct, and Navteq/ HERE is still a supplier of maps. As is TomTom (TeleAtlas). Google only recently start selling their maps to 3rd parties for use in navigation devices

There are new maps for NDS-app, but you have to download them manually by removing the old map(s) and then download the new map(s). The “trick” as before, despite TomToms promise it would’t be necessary… I downloaded maps for Netherlands (“old” 357 Mb, “new” 369 mb), UAE “old” 53 mb, “new” 55 Mb”, now downloading other maps I use…

    @okcrg,

This has been answered many time before.

You can only see the maps with Android 5 or 6

    In the folder \Andriod|data\com.tomtom.gplay.navapp.nds\files\NdsMaps\World\

From 7 on they are hidden and can only be seen if you root your phone.

    PS:

See that this is your first post I would take the time to read older versions of this too.

You will find most of your answers there.

They are in system storage. You can not access it until your phone is rooted.
And even after that, the software is sensitive to any kind of touching.

    To @others:
I don't see any point of discussion here. This topic is about software package.
All is already said about it. You just have to read, and not to repeat the facts.
Before asking a question, know it's already discussed here and at 99.9% is not unique. Use search.

    Spoiler: obs
Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.
