This is odd indeed, I ran the .gpi through my parser and it showed that the .wav files are there and looking at some random records that are not using the Beep alerts, I see that it's using the custom wav. The predefined Ding tone is probably Garmin way of saying "I can't play your .wav"* Since I haven't changed the format of the .wav files, I don't see why Garmin would have problem with it. Only change is the build is on a new Win7 machine while older build are on WinXP, but I don't think that matter. It could be corruptions of those .wav files when I copied it over to new machine. I will continue to investigate, but not as high-priority since I'm in middle of something now.

* on Street Pilot, it won't be able to play .mp3 nor .wav but it will not play Ding tone, instead you get silence.
