    I can't see any GPI files directly. I use dedicated USB port for a media to load any additional POI. They do not apper on SD card which I use for map data. They are copied directly to the ROM as I understand, which is not accessible.
    Device is Kenwood DNX5160

    This forum is focused on car navigation but out of curiosity, if anyone did tried Cyclops on a handheld units like GPSMAP 6x series? On this weekend I'd played with Cyclops POIs using my GPSMAP 62 and the findings are as follows

    1. It looks like the unit does recognize the POIs. It displays a meaningful info about Cyclops data on the About screen. So it should work (as this was promised early in this thread).

    2. When simulated driving, no text banners, no beeps, nothing. Seems it does not work. But perhaps the feature is designed to do not disturb the user when it's not necessary. On the handheld units it's not possible for user to control the simulation speed. So no overspeed, no alert. Seems quite logical. But a proximity alerts are also missing. Or it does not work on the handhelds indeed?

    It is software problem, respectively - its capabilities. Software in device.
    Before asking a question, know it's already discussed here and at 99.9% is not unique. Use search.

    Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.

    Not just a software problem. Garmin made from cyclops a very special POI type. It's too much hidden. It's not visible on the map nor it mentioned in any POI list. It can not be transferred between the device and desktop application, etc. If speedcam alert is illegal it just should not be there. But what is illegal in one jurisdiction can be perfectly legal in the other. Garmin took one-size-fits-all approach and created the problem for everyone. It's too difficult for users to verify that feature. Definitely a design problem

    Is there a way to convert these .GPI files to .GPX format ?

    @slickric
    Even when they've been decrypted, you cannot convert the Cyclops GPI files to a GPX format. These POIs are compiled entirely differently to other speed and redlight warnings. See the initial post here which explains about 'unlocked' and 'decrypted' and how the two terms are often conflated:
    Ballebar's instructions about patched (unlocked) Cyclops releases in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. See [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Note there is a difference between 'unlocking' and 'decrypting' GPI files. Decrypted files will work with all devices capable of using Cyclops files. In modern MSV protected devices patching of the firmware may additionally be needed, more info in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Unlocked files generally work fine on older devices without modern firmware protection but may require FID to 700 or 900 change.

    To unlock, use pietu's Patch Tool or marcocq's PGFT attached below.

    To decrypt, use syzygy's [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Sometimes decrypted files are often also loosely referred to as unlocked.
    The 'unlocked' files posted in this thread are in fact decrypted.

    @clement425,

    That will only work on generic GPI files NOT unlocked Garmin Speed Cam.

    You would know that if you tried it yourself.

    How many times does Butters and others have to say this......??????
