I think it's better to connect those pins with a wire. Otherwise your hand could move accidentally and connect some other pins, which is not what you want.

ok you mean to solder to wires together and leave them connected whilst i power up my unit ?
Yes. Don't disconnect them. It's perfectly ok to leave them connected if you're just trying to enter pre-boot mode, not flashing the firmware.
ok but better we hear Alexanders answer on that hopefuly he is going to answer us soon
does it matter if my garmindevice.xml is corrupt? does it play a role if its booting or not ?
Garmindevice.xml is created every time the device is cold booted.
Data changes depending on which files are installed in the device and a lot of the data also comes from region 41.(and possibly other regions)
A corrupt garmindevice.xml usually means that there is corruption elsewhere in the device's complex memory structure.
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Albert Einstein.
unfortunadly my is not created every time . my garmindevice.xml only has 2 lines in it .. is it possible you can send me one fixed ?
Kenwood have different garmindevice.xml like others unit.
If you read with care what @dasilvarsa wrote to you then you will find out that if you add different xml in your device nothing will change, becouse on every boot new xml is created, but if xml is not auto created then something is very wrong with your device and nuvi can't read/write garmindevice.xml
Everything you do, you do so at your own responsibility.
I am not responsible for yours errors, mistakes and damage created and ......
This is continuing discussion from the post #71 and #73 ..............
