Reply With QuoteThe 5 Plus series (5S Plus/5 Plus/5X Plus) all have the same main firmware (but different SensorHub firmwares) as have the D2 Delta series (D2 Delta S/D2 Delta/D2 Delta PX). So you can use the 5 Plus files.

Sorry to bug you again.
Is there a way to downgrade the firmware from V7.0 to 6.0?
I successfully converted my 5s plus and updated it to V7 but want to downgrade the firmware since V7 is buggy.

It is now.
I've just uploaded fenix 5 Plus 15.30 <=> D2 Delta 7.00 files to the MEGA share. So you can convert back to fenix now.

I renamed the D2Delta700_to_f5P1530.gcd file to GUPDATE.gcd and put it under the Garmin folder.
Though the update showed up and my watch rebooted, the update didn't seem to stick and the watch is still stuck at V7.
What did I do wrong?

Hmm ... I don't know why it doesn't want to work. However, I've uploaded an alternative firmware file which sets the "Reset/Downgrade" flag. Maybe this one works. Otherwise, try to downgrade to a previous D2 Delta version using the Backdate-firmwares (they work the same - rename to GUPDATE.GCD and put into GARMIN folder on watch) and then try to convert from that older version to fenix 5 Plus.

Successfully flashed a 5X Plus to a D2 Delta PX using the file from Mega. Everything works with the exception that Garmin Express doesn't show an option to update aviation databases via a button to launch the flyGarmin web site. That said by going to flyGamin and adding the now D2 Delta PX, it is possible to load / update the aviation database.
Perhaps the following might help someone...
I initially flashed f5P1300_to_D2Delta610.gcd, where I thought I could upgrade to 7.00 via flashing f5P1530_to_D2Delta700.gcd. But the watch only deleted the file without offering to apply the upgrade. Then I tried to flash one of the backdate files, but they were just deleted as well. Finally I applied D2Delta700_to_f5P1530_Alternative.gcd to a 6.10 flash and that took, where I was able to then flash f5P1530_to_D2Delta700.gcd.
Identical to a discussion on Garmin's forum, Garmin Express shows V6.10 though V7.00 is flashed.
For reference my (real) D2 Delta to date has not been offered V7.00.Last edited by Boki; 3rd August 2021 at 03:57 PM. Reason: merged two posts

Eh, why didn’t you download the normal D2 Delta 7.00 update? After conversion, your watch is a D2 Delta. So, of course, it won’t take firmwares meant for a fenix 5 Plus (to convert).
Have a look at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and check the page source. There you’ll find the manual download for the update.

I reread your post #19. Yes I feel stupid at this point....
Found the firmware file's link in the page source. I didn't realize they were doing that.
Garmin Express now offer 7.10 for "real" D2 Delta watches, where it is possible to successfully update the watch from say 6.10 to 7.10. For the Fenix flashed to D2 Delta, Garmin Express says 7.10 is available but it appears that the update is not transferred to the watch. By downloading from the link in the page source, cited above, and transferring the update to a 6.10 flashed watch, the update installs without issue.
It appears that Garmin Express knows the difference between a real D2 Delta and one that was flashed, perhaps by looking at the serial number. Also notable is that Express for my flashed Fenix does not show a link that is shown for a real D2 Delta, where the link is to the web site with chart updates.
Overall not a problem as long as one keep track of updates and manually transfers them onto the flashed Fenix.Last edited by Boki; 3rd August 2021 at 03:58 PM. Reason: merged two posts
