Ok, thanks for that info Stewie. It seems it was certainly a damaged flash and it's equally certain that kunix knows how to prevent such a unit writing to known damaged flash blocks. I hope that he finds the time soon to tell us how to overcome it even though that particular unit's no longer available to play with.
