Looking at the list of members who have read this thread w/o posting, there will be quite a few very skilled ppl also waiting patiently to see the next move. Garmin would have already binned this zumo, i doubt they'd have jtag'ed it or put a service cable near it even. It's a credit to kunix that he's prepared to spend his time like this so patiently and also to SF to help a friend. Thanks kunix for suffering my 'villiage-idiot' suggestions and questions too. What i've learned from you in recent times has surprised even me, but i put that down to your being able to explain things in a way assimilable by laymen/learners with no credit to myself. It's one thing to have knowledge, another to be prepared to share it or be capable of teaching it. It blows my mind that you may know how to prevent this unit from attempting to write bad blocks if that in fact is where this is heading.

The next month won't go quick enough for me, waiting for the next exciting episode.
