Does this device have SD:/sys.bin present? If so then this is the main firmware. You can replace this file with any other fw_all.bin (while changing HWID appropriately, of course) and try to run it.
@kunix
Are you interested to discover how the US 4.50 & 4.60 Goldwing fw is able to see NT images? I have long wondered if the NT capability of those 2 fw versions could be used to do the same with SP 2600 series which seems to be similar hw.
These particular navi units update fw only from CF card and are not accessible in the way a Garmin unit is normally afaik. I don't have access to one at present unfortunately, perhaps overman2008 can assist with testing?

It's probably interesting. There are two problems: no known pre-boot mode, no free time for me currently.

It says "loader". So it could be some kind of a pre-boot mode. The question is who initiates the update process. On modern nuvis the main firmware does it. So if it crashes, you can't flash GCD files. On the other hand there is a mysterious Reset button. Maybe it forces the bootloader to start GCD updating process. So, in conclusion, I can't claim anything definite.
I agree, but these things aren't like modern nuvis really. And i have a pristine SP 2610 just begging to be bricked. The 26x0 series update with an .exe which as you know simply invokes updater.exe to load an *.rgn file, so the question of how the GW units load fw is purely academic imo. I'm more interested in whether we (by that i mean you) can find the mechanism though which the new GW fw now reads NT and if that can be transposed into a modded fw for SP 2600 units? If you're in, we can spin the last few posts off into a new thread. If you're out, i'll just cry myself to sleep you b*****d!

If you have a map update CF card, you will find the gupdate.gcd on it. If not, i can't tell you how to find the HWID for sure on the unit as i don't have access to a GW presently. You could try something like Menu>Info>System Info or similar. Even if you don't find the HWID, the currently installed sw version will give you a good hint as to if it's a EU or US unit. In any case, the bike itself will disclose the navi unit type. If it's a EU model GoldWing (IT = Italy, right?) it would have HWID 0504 and use EU fw.

Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Can't access these things by usb like a nuvi-type unit as far as i can remember. They are like a StreetPilot 2610 in hardware appearance though.
