    Hi!

    Do you know how to install patched firmware via SD card? My nuvi 2559 can not connect to computer via USB port.

    @miroslavbl,

    Are you using a Garmin USB cable?
    What are you trying to contact to?

    PC Laptop version of Windows

    Do not use a hub to connect you 2559

    Try removing you usb drive for Garmin and reinstalling it again.
    Spoiler: USB drive form Garmin

    You do not need to patch a 2559 it will work with any maps.
    Plus the 2559 is a LM version for Europe.
    That means Life time map updates.

    There are no patched maps here you will have to buy other maps other than what came with the GPS.

    If you screwed something up than read this post.

    Hi!

    Yes, I use Garmin USB cable.
    My OS is Windows 10.
    No, I do not use USB hub, I connect device directly on motherboard.
    My other Garmin nuvi devices can connect to PC without problems with same cable on same USB port.
    Nuvi 2559 has LM by Western Europe. I need patch for nuvi 2559, because I need map of all Europe.
    I have patched firmware, but I don't know how to install firmware without USB connections, only via SD card.

    @miroslavbl,

    Again I repeat myself the Nuvi 2559 firmware is not of the new STD. It still has the unprotected system.
    That means you can put any maps you want on the 2559.
    That means you will have to get unlocked maps which are not here on this forum.
    Or buy what you need in the way of maps.

    NO patched firmware is needed.

    Did you uninstall the the Garmin USB drivers and reinstall them????
    Do you have something blocking the USB port from accessing the Garmin???

    Did you contact Garmin with your problem?

    Have had this problem or is this something new that has just started?

    Is the unit second hand or did you buy it new years ago???

    @asprin624

    I see that you have large reputation and big experience and I really appreciate this, but I think that you made mistake.

    I try several different maps on this nuvi 2559 and every time I have same message:"Maps are corrupt and cannot be used. Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to download the latest maps." Maps are unlocked and I use them several times on old nuvi devices without any problems

    HWID of 2559 is 1758 and software is same like for 2599 and I download from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    I have IMGPatcher v 1.30 as of 15-06-18 and there are files with explanations for patching and using. I attach part of this file and you can see that there is firmware protection.

    I use same computer 1-2 years and I connect few Garmin devices every week. Everything is OK with drivers, USB ports, cables... There is some hardware problem with this nuvi 2559.

    But this is not too important.

    My basic question was how to update firmware via SD card, unpached or patched. Is there some reserved name of gcd file, reserved folder location...

    @miroslavbl
    nuvi 2559 HWID 1758 indeed does have protected firmware. asprin264 was likely thinking of 2xx5 devices rather than 2xx9 series. Unfortunately because of past events in regard to unlocked maps and software manipulation you will get no direct assistance here in this forum as to patching which is prohibited by Garmin's EULA conditions.

    The most i can openly say is this: You need only to patch the firmware component "fw_all.bin" which is then flashed to region 14 (hex 0E). That's the only strict requirement however it best to flash all applicable regions with the same version of all the component BIN files regardless. The patcher application you've referenced only deals with fw_all.bin either by itself or as a part of an entire GCD file. I will give you further guidance only in a very 'general' manner and will not assist in making nor supplying you or any other member with 'patched' firmware, even privately. The basics of how to flash firmware BIN files using Ldr.bin and Text Commands are covered in this thread.

    As to the difficulties you've found evidenced by this statement:
    My nuvi 2559 can not connect to computer via USB port
    If you mean that you cannot get the nuvi to be recognised in preboot mode so it can be flashed using Updater.exe and an RGN fw file that's not unusual. All modern Garmin automotive devices are notoriously difficult to access in preboot even though they can be used quite normally in MSM/MTP directly. Regardless, it's possible with persistence to attain preboot and then connect to flash conventionally unless the USB socket itself or a vital board component is physically damaged.

    I understand forum rules and I do not ask for help about patching maps and firmware.

    I need help for original software upgrade via SD card, because I have hardware problem with my nuvi 2559. Sorry, if I I was not clear in my previous posts.
