It's a matter of personal opinion i suppose, but i reckon flashing 465 firmware is preferable to flashing SG/MY to a HWID 0827 device. Still get LA and no problems with TTS. You lose the little north pointer and the side bar stuff but everything runs normally. The SG is just too buggy on a US 2x5W device for my money. I've loaded it again to one of my 255W>465 convert units to re-convince myself. I still think it's pretty cp*p, so gonna flash it back to 465 right now. 465 gets the second map in SD card too and the truck profile is a bonus for some.

Neil you are right.
The tts is totally messed up. Is 465 a us firmware or sg/my? I might give that one a go. I really just want the lane assist feature. Anything else is just a bonus.
Do someone has in its archives fw 6.40 HWID 0827? I have a friend's most probably dead nuvi 255w and it freeze on loading maps. The onboard fw is 6.40 and I need it for ldr.bin.
Yes, here's v6.4 ldr.bin: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
PS: Although better to use the same version as on the unit for total safety, i've never had a problem using a later version's boot component for that task though. It's quite likely to be a concern if you use an earlier boot/ldr bin to try loading a later [i.e. larger] fw_all.bin though.

Greetings.. Have an older 265wt that my wife used to use when we were dating... Was thinking about trying to add lane assist to this but not sure what procedure is involved. any sticky or write up on best way to try this?
I have read a few articles about flashing with newer 465t firmware 420gcd etc.. but they didn't go into details or procedure..Any help in right direction appreciated.
THX
If it's the non-MTK chip with HWID 0827 it can be flashed to 465. Don't attempt if it's MTK HWID 1091, it'll brick. If you have 0827, use the 265W boot.bin combined with 465 fw_all.bin and HWID overrides set to 0827 in RGN_Tool for safety. You can follow 'Method 1' described in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and simply substitute the firmwares as necessary. Latest v4.20 465 firmware is here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Be sure to use latest versions of both firmwares to obtain the boot and fw_all components. You can leave the 265W logo as-is or flash 465 logo to region 16, available here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Make sure you back up region 41 [NV Backup] before doing anything. Basic files such as Voice, Text etc except Help are the same on both units.
Open a separate topic if you need more help.
Disclaimer: Any firmware flashing is at some risk. Cross flashing by it's nature has a chance of bricking a device. All attempts are at your own risk regardless of how you might interpret my suggestions above. I do believe it is safe to use the 'hybrid' firmware method of combining the original 2x5W unit's boot.bin with the donor 465 unit's fw_all.bin retaining HWID 0827 based on my personal anecdotally proven success in over a dozen conversions using that method. I also believe that it's NOT safe to do a full conversion to HWID 0943 using full 465 firmware.

I was thinking you wanted ldr.bin to run SD commands but had replaced the 1fichier link for V6.40 as well in initial post here in case you needed it to make full cure too. But if Loly couldn't help it's probably a goner. Did you also try modified boot.bin as *.rgn file flashed remotely with Updater.exe for text cmd execution [erase rgn48 etc]? Open a thread if you haven't given up [if the original fw cure flash doesn't work that is] ....

The problem is that with your ldr.bin and update.txt containing
ergn, 48
reboot
/it was Loly proposal/
the unit did not see SD card at least not changing its behavior.
OK in case did not work with original FW I will open a thread. If there is even a small chance I never give up.![]()
