Hmm the difference between w Europe 2.7 and usa 2.7 app... I went and installed 2.7 USA version although living in Europe don't exactly need it just to see will it work or not and surprise surprise I does no problem at all, after installation it gives you exactly the same options as W.Europe to download necessary files for app to work and choice of maps that you want to install

Saqip, I can also confirm that Garmin StreetPilot 2.7 works for me on my jailbroken iPhone 4, however I have the USA version but need to install North America or Canada.

This is where the problems start as the map structures are somehow changed and Garmin does not recognize gmapprom.img / gmapsupp.img even if I put them in /Documents/ , /Library/sdcard/Garmin/Map etc. (for sure the permissions are mobile:mobile with rwx, r, r - so that is not the problem)
So is there anybody who have managed to install additional maps as I do not want to buy two garmin apps just for my one time travelling to Canada?

Oh, and I have the lates LEGAL map of 2015.10 just received on my garmin device but it has a power problem so it works only connected to my pc and for map downloading.

Please help as I know the answer is somewhere there but where to look at least - now that is the question

Has anyone been able to load just TopoMaps putting a GMAPSUPP.IMG in the /SDcard/ directory using Garmin-USA_OnBoard_NoMap.ipa ? I can't for the life of me get it to recognize my (unlocked) map. Thanks.

As far as I remember it was 2.0.

But nowadays it is not a hard task to find 2.7 of USA & Western Europe. Gosh, I wish I live there, so I do not have to do anything but to download the entire map and enjoy it. Unfortunately I did not find any traces of Garmin StreetPilot 2.7 of North America so I guess I will have to try to figure out where do the maps should be placed so to have it working.

I know, I can use earlier versions and upload the maps to /.System , however there are way too many improvements so to use such an earlier version. I have managed to find the StreetPilot 2.3 for North America, hover it blows me off with Authentication error even though the server gold.garmin.com was blocked with Firewall IP.

So I came up with an idea - if someone has the map of North America, can them please let us know what is the name of the map file (in case they are not willing to share the map itself with us ). I think this might be a step forward as I do not have any luck making any north america app to load the maps and see it for myself. Of course, if I manage to do that, I would happily share it with the rest here, but so far no luck.

Maybe someone knows how to trick the Garmin N. America (v2.3 v2.3.01 3GS os51)-[*****Lords]-B_H.ipa so that we can at least load the maps directly from the Garmin servers.

Please be aware that the trick with hosts does not work either and even more, I have tried adding gold/silver/bronze , home etc. pointing to 127.0.0.1

Hmm, maybe somebody have newer than my version of the Garmin StreetPilot North America (smth like 2.6, 2.7 or even better - 2.8?)

I tried putting the gmapdem.img file for North America in the main .img folder, but it doesn't seem to be recognized. DEM does work, but only if it's embedded in a map?
What about custom topo maps? I'm using the 2.0 USA version found here and I think I've tried everything and can't get my unlocked custom topo map recognized :-( Actually I'm just looking for a map viewer for my iPhone, don't need address look up or anything.

Hi, again. I have managed to find the North America Garmin Street Pilot 2.7 and as far as I am not clear with the rules here, I would not attach the file itself (about 200Mb) but would only say that it is for AppAddict-s (if you know what I mean, you will find it there, where the end is .org ).

So the map is downloaded for your choice - canada+alaska+some US states, the entire North America or so on. You need to download additional 230MB needed app files (I guess it is the basemap etc.) and on top of that, if you need the junction view (very convenient and is showing images of highway exits etc.) you need to download additional 600MB from inside the app. The only problems I have are that even though the app downloads the map from the garmin store/servers, up until now it is still 2014.30 where the newest map I have for my real Garmin is 2015.20. as well as the junction view downloaded file is only for a split screen but not for a full screen view that I have used in 2.0 version - D3060150A.JCV .

I did not played only with the JCV file, but as soon as I have tried to add my unlocked 3d map, the garmin app have deleted my JCV file as well as the 3d map and during the start of the app requires internet to authenticate the map (which was already done and the Internet is available). If you happen to be in the same position like me, do not panic, just delete the original map you have chosen during the first app start and it will fix the issue itself by offering you to download the map again.

I think that the 3d map as well as the garmin maps and maybe even SID files are identified now by garmin so for the moment I did not found anybody that can change the map files. I have tried to use the same naming convention several times, playing with Library/Sdcard/Garmin as well as .../MapUnlock etc. but every time you either get an authentication error, and Internet connection activation error or just end up with a deleted map and an offer to download everything from scratch.

There must be something still missing which would allow us to download from Garmin servers the latest map as I doubt that in 2.8 North America the latest map is 2014.30. Is there anybody that have purchased the app and can inform me what he sees as a map info in his 2.8 version, so to know what to expect.

I was planing to buy the app, however I am not sure that Garmin apps would change the app maps as fast as they do it with their real GPS devices so if that is the case, it is useless for me to buy the app and be stuck with 2014.40 (for example) where the newest might reach even 2015.40 or so.

I think for now I would stick with 2.3 version which as to my knowledge is the latest that does not have the same map protection/change as it is in 2.7 so that I can easily update the map anytime there is a new one and I need it as it is downloaded for my Garmin GPS, and all I have to do is to use the unlock key to put it on my cell phone.

Does anybody knows a version of Garmin StreetPilot North America for iPhone than 2.3 that would use the good old ./System/ maps folder or I should check all the apps and see it for myself ?

    Hello everyone!
I have tried to add a custom map to Garmin W. Europe 2.9.1 (on iPad mini with iOS 8.1.2) by combining/joining it with the downloaded one in the program.
So far I have had no luck with that, but a funny thing popped during the process.
When I tried and joined the two maps with "GMapTool", I uploaded them to the Documents folder, replaced the original "img" file and the program recognized the map as the downloaded one and it did not delete it, requesting for a new map download, but strangely it did not show it when I tried to view the map, neither my local map or the original Garmin map.
After this has happened I deleted the local map that I have added to the file along with most of the other maps leaving only a part of the map of Greece and I uploaded the same file back to the iPad.
This time when I tried to view the map it showed the map of Greece I have left with streets and everything.
So I came to the conclusion that maps are editable.
And also that the reason I did not succeed in the first place is because I could not change the FID and CP of the local map with "GMapTool" and mach it with the one of the CN 2015.20 Greece & Italy that I have downloaded with Garmin.
I have also tried other software, but none seems to do the trick.
I am open to ideas and if any of you think that this might work, lets try to get the newer versions of Garmin working with custom maps.

You cant edit a Garmin NT .img
You can edit non NT and "Pseudo NT" maps.
There is a thread for this:
