Which firmware is your unit running?
Starting with software version 3.60, both the GPSMAP 620 and 640 are able to display TOPO maps on both the Car and Boat modes. Please download and run Garmin Express in order to update the software on the GPSMAP 620 or 640.....Addiionally this .img had MS flag1, change it to 0 with Gmaptool to see it in Basecamp and Mapinstall.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links

The system info screen says Software Version 3.70 GPS SW Version: 2.90. I already had the unit connected to Garmin's updater to ensure it had the latest version.
Also, the topo Canada maps work fine in marine mode.
How do I change the MS flag1 to 0. I opened the IMG file in Gmaptool but couldn't find this setting anywhere or how to change it if I did find it. I already tried running Mapinstall to install it and it installs this way as well but still shows up as "map format not supported"

"Advanced options" checked, follow the instructions in the link I gave above, there is a nice picture
