    tproveau here. I was using the latest Ares that supports torrents but was not working apparently. I switched to utorrent and downloading at 600+ kB/s now! Thanks for reading this post.

    don't use ares myself but my guess is it's uPnP support. torrents work best when ports are forwarded to the client, this was a manually configured thing before but now uPnP handles it for you if your router can be configured by that means
