The GPSMAP series had the power button on the side it is only the new 66 that they put it on the top.
Guessing you have never seen the original GPS 60 or GPSMAP 60 series units (the series that set the gold standard)?

They also have the power button on the top of the device 8^)

Placing the power button in a location on the device that is easily or commonly gripped turns out to be not the best solution. Placing this button so that it is not likely to be pressed accidentally is much more desirable.

    @babj615,

On the GPSMAP 62 and 64 the power is on the side.

I will post screen shots if you want.

The GPSMAP 60 is so old to use as a comparison........

    I quote you:

"Placing the power button in a location on the device that is easily or commonly gripped turns out to be not the best solution"

I have friends who have the 62 and 64 series and have never run into any problems accidentally pressing the power button.

Even while having in their hand walking or climbing over things while Geocaching.

You do use the power button to put the screen back on or take it out of Expedition Mode or you can put it back into Expedition Mode right away.

So I do not understand problems accidentally pressing the power button would cause other than you might turn off the GPS.

I am a prospective buyer of a GPSMap 66s, I am somewhat alarmed by the alleged
problem with displaying multiple waypoint at the same time.
I have a lot of waypoints in my Magellan Sportrak that I want to transfer to the GPSMap.
I can export them from the Magellan, convert them to the GPX format and import them
in Basecamp (that I use with my Zumo 660).
Can someone confirm that it is possible to transfer waypoints from Basecamp to a GPSMap?
Thanks in advance for your insights
    Willy

What "alleged problem with displaying multiple waypoint at the same time." ???

I have many GPSMAP 66 units, and I have never heard of any such thing, nor do I have any issues displaying multiple waypoints on my devices.

Yes, you can use BaseCamp to transfer data to/from a GPSMAP 66.

    What are you talking about???

I am somewhat alarmed by the alleged
problem with displaying multiple waypoints at the same time.
I have been using my 66 now since 2019 and have never had any problems showing waypoints.

Where did you come up with that????

    Thanks for the reply.
The OP started this thread by writing (amongst other things) that:
    "
What the user manual doesn't tell you is what it no longer will do:
You cannot display multiple waypoints on the map. Will only display one waypoint at a time on the map
    "
This statement was later contradicted, but I wanted to be sure, hence my query.
It is important that I can transfer a waypoint "library" to the GPS.
