    Of course you didn't do it with the intention of damaging it. But...

    Theoretically - yes
    If you have so much static electricity on your fingers/"soldering iron" that it can damage them.

    Practically - I have touched such connectors a million times and there were no consequences. So - hardly.
    But - one of the USB wires carries a voltage of 5V, so...current probably went where it shouldn't.
