Now how do you will know what's faulty? Change touchscreen? (several backs). Try to look at it from sharp angle - if you'll see net on the screen - touchscreen is broken. If not - maybe you've shorten some circuits inside MB - doubt it worth repair...

What do you mean by 'seeing a net'? I check all the connections on the touch screen with the flex cable and all have continuity, so I can assume the flex is not ripped or something like that.
