Thread: Garmin Updater Program

Thank you. While I have some computer knowledge I don't have any when it comes to these GPS devices. How do I find the correct RGN file for my unit?

Edit: I have found this thread. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] It appears that if I can figure out what is being said I might be able to get my unit working.

There are numerous entries for nuvi13xxand14xxserie.. How do I figure out which one to use, and is that the proper file to use in GarminCure3?

If you don't Know the HWID use [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Just use the Firmware from the source for HWID 0972

That is what had confused me. I did use G7ToWin and was looking for a GCD file for 0972. I didn't know you chose 0972 when using the cure program. Now that I am looking at the list of files available I see that they are different dates. Safe to assume I just use the latest?

BTW - I have been reading various threads on this forum for days trying to get a handle on how to do this. A big problem for me is that there is an assumption that one already knows basic terminology and how these things work. If there is a thread (or website) that explains things from the beginning I haven't found it.
