Thank you again for trying to help me. You are correct, Kenwood locked down the access to the internal SD and there is no access to root. They even disabled the hidden diagnostic utilities that used to let you copy things from External SD or USB to root.

I have seen threads where people have opened up their Kenwoods and removed the internal SD and disabled the lock down on the internal SD card. But my unit is still under warranty so I won't try that yet.

I could not seem to get the Garmin browser add-on to recognize the new 2012 unit when connected to the USB connector. When I had an older Kenwood DNX years ago the browser add-on would indeed recognize the kenwood when connected to the micro-usb connection on the back.

Looks like I will just have to search for a CSV POI file and use POI loader.
