Yes , I also think that Magic Earth (new name of the Route 66 Software) has become a very good navigation app on android.

Pro: - free program (without ads ) and free maps (OSM)
- good route calculation (with alternative routes , lane guidance and free speedcams)
- the only free software I know with (free) headup display , warning when you leave the white line and adaptive asssistant (collision warning when You come to close to the car
in front of You)
- easy import (one click) of custom poi (kml format)
- modern interface
- dashcam (with recording possible)

Contra: -You can't import routes yet
