There are many ways to do. (but turboccc advice this step.)
H/R is not a must, it just should be done.

about renaming
Renaming --> success / not renaming--> failure ==> mod rgn is ok., files are not.
Renaming --> failure ==> mod rgn is not ok.

For H/R, should it be done BEFORE or AFTER flashing? Or both?

So if I understand it correctly, it's always safe to just rename the text, voice, and keyboard folders to other names BEFORE flashing and put them back to their original names AFTER flashing?

H/R both.

Renaming :: is not always safe.
ie. Renaming & failure in case of 3790US-->3790Sg/My 2.50
