Ahh... semantics! Love 'em, or in this case Hate 'em! You meant "It gives the partition ID, which you can get by issuing a DIR command on that drive, not the card ID". Can't say i'm not disapointed though... oh, well. Back to sticking the sd into the nuvi to get the CID.
Unless someone's got another solution .
PS: Gave your post a "like", but only because it cleared up my confusion

    Hello guys,

I'm trying to copy a Bluechart g2 vision map from the original sd card to another but i would like to keep it locked as is in the original. I know that the map is locked to the psn part of the cid of the sd card. Using an android app named SD tools, i can observe the following information about the sd card using my phone:

    cid: 1b 53 4d 30 30 30 30 30 10 00 bd 8e e7 00 b1 2c
    Serial: 0x00bd8ee7
    date:01/2011
    .......

now my query is if i use the serial observed as is and converted to decimal i get 12422887, which is an 8digit number instead of 10 is correct or:

if i reverse the serial to e7 8e bd 00 and then convert it to decimal, i get 3884891392, which looks fine.

As my GPSMAP421s drowned, i cannot test if the 3884891392 is the right number to use in the jetmouse generator.

Is there any other way to test if I have correctly unlocked my map?
I tried the homeport but it shows the detailed map without a sw.unl file in the sd card at all.

    Thanks for your time guys

    edit:
I would be grateful If somebody has a locked sd and an android phone to compare the the reversed-converted-to-decimal Serial which the "SD tools" app gives in the phone with the one his garmin device gives

Yes, 8 digits should be correct ID.

thanks kanopus, so you mean if i use the 12422887 (0x00bd8ee7 in hex ) within the jetmouse with custom map, the correct sw.unl will be generated?
