How To Get Your SD Card ID in Your Garmin Device
How to get SD card ID:
- Insert the SD card into your Garmin.
- Boot your Garmin And touch the Clock or battery (upper right) for about 10 seconds.
- A secret menu will show up.
- Click (Next) until you see the menu for the SD card.
- Press (Checksum) and wait unit ID for SD card will appear (10 digits for my sandisk SD card)
or simply go here:
You must have Garmin Communicator Plugin installedCode:Please Login or Register to see the links
In the desired SD card create a directory Garmin and copy in it any file gmapsupp.img with some real .unl .
This is for bluecharts update, it needs an .img and an.unl

You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
I tried this with a Nuvi 755T and it does not work!
It's not the (Checksum) number you need it's the 10 digit code. Second picture where it say serial 2691044652 that’s the number you need, obviously your SD card Serial number will be different
Also in some models you need to hold down the battery icon not the clock
Hope that helps
Weird, I only got a 6 digit code under serial, on a Nuvi 310
Try your Garmin Power Button and touch the upper left for about 10-20 seconds.
On Nuvi 660 perfect!
Does anyone know how to obtain SD Card Id with a Garmin GPSMap 521 (no touch screen)?
I have a Dakota 20. The trick with the clock / battery does not work.
Ans ID Utility is not working anymore also. Do you know how I can find SD ID?
On my Nuvi 5000 I have to go to the trip screen (odometer, speedometer, etc) and hold down the speedometer for a few seconds. Maybe that works for other models as well.
Thanks AGAIN Catymag! I will try that utility. These steps do not working on the marine unit, so hopefully this utility will do the job!
could not post the link to the new version I only have 7 posts... So give me a few, but that version is old and it directs you to a newer version. But when I run it the real hard drive ID just says hardware. No number. But the partition ID is 6566-66638.
UPDATE: no luck still just says hardware. No number, but my partition ID did change. Would this be the number to create an unl file to lock this map down?
How do you add pics to your post. I would like to be able to post some images??
