Providing the device is otherwise functioning correctly, re-flashing region 16 with the original Logo data will restore the "Garmin" splash screen. You can obtain the correct LOGO BIN file [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Read the instructions there, Post #13 in particular). Note that the Ldr.bin for 2x5W in that post is V7.60 so you'll need to replace it with the later version before using the pack.
You can extract the V7.80 ramloader (boot.bin) from "nuvi2x5W_GCDFile-MTK__780.gcd" using RGN_Tool, available [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Always re-name "boot.bin" to "Ldr.bin" when flashing via SD card.
There's usually no risk even if an inappropriate logo bin is flashed, probably that's what had previously been done to your device because then usually the device boots normally but without a visible splash screen. So, someone probably used an image from the picture viewer to at least show something on start-up. The thing is that there's also other information in region 16 that the device might need to use all available features so you're best to properly restore it.
