The easiest way to put the whole of Europe on the SD card is to copy the garmindevice.xml from your device and place it on the SD card in a folder called Garmin.
Unplug the device and plug in the SD card into your PC, this is now a clone of your device but with plenty of storage. Use Garmin Express to update the clone.
After the update has completed you will see two map files East & West (possibly gmapprom.img + gmapprom.unl & D0323420A.img & D0323420A.unl) in the Garmin folder ,change their names to gmapsupp.img & gmapsupp.unl gmapsup1.img & gmapsup1.unl.Plug the SD card into your device.

The date & size of the gmapprom.img on your device looks like a regional map, the gmapsupp.img UK & ROI you created with Basecamp?, the best way to identify .img files is to use the program [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] you will be able to see what the old maps showing in your device are and remove them safely.
