Default Trouble with obsolete NUVI465T device upgrade newest maps

    Hi,
I have obsolete Garmin 465T device which is great for trucks. I am trying update my maps, but Garmin Express told me, that whole map is bigger than is possible load and need select region. But I have SD card 16 GB inserted and is totally free. Is possible divide maps to device and SD card?

This way not worked for me: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I have no possibility select where map will be stored in Garmin Express.
And I have strange img files in device gmapprom.img

Is opossible upload whole licensed Europe 2022 version map into this device? I have paid and registeered my device

    Spoiler: images

As far as I know, if you have an SD card inside, just click on it to install and garmin express will do so, so I made Garmin drive 51 on my device, it has 8 gigabytes and more Europe doesn't fit, and when I started upgrading garmin express, I said that there is no space on the device and to choose a region or SD card I clicked on the SD card and everything was installed and there are no problems I have a sd card of 32 Gigabytes.

    Welcome.
img files are OK. You don't need a card that big. Format it on FAT32.

Obviously you have not been introduced to the rules of this Forum.
You didn't need another topic to open. And you could get a little acquainted with Garmin in general.
There are other solutions, but you won't find them here.

As for payment - contact the official Garmin support, do not look for solutions like this

The easiest way to put the whole of Europe on the SD card is to copy the garmindevice.xml from your device and place it on the SD card in a folder called Garmin.
Unplug the device and plug in the SD card into your PC, this is now a clone of your device but with plenty of storage. Use Garmin Express to update the clone.
After the update has completed you will see two map files East & West (possibly gmapprom.img + gmapprom.unl & D0323420A.img & D0323420A.unl) in the Garmin folder ,change their names to gmapsupp.img & gmapsupp.unl gmapsup1.img & gmapsup1.unl.Plug the SD card into your device.

The date & size of the gmapprom.img on your device looks like a regional map, the gmapsupp.img UK & ROI you created with Basecamp?, the best way to identify .img files is to use the program [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] you will be able to see what the old maps showing in your device are and remove them safely.

    Hello,

I formatted whole Garmin internal HDD, then formatted External SD, then connected device to Garmin Express and updated all to newest versions, now I have map on SD Card, but on display is none. JaVaWa told me that I have no base map.

    How can I fix this?

Firstly, you shouldn't format a Garmin device's internal memory unless you are having problems that cannot be overcome any other way. If formatting is needed as a last resort, bricking due to an unknown file for example, then only [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] is sure to work to Garmin's proprietary OS's satisfaction. Other tools might be fine, Windows built-in tool is hit and miss but never use a Mac to format a Garmin device as success rate is low.

If you do have to format the internal memory but the device still has Mass Storage Mode available then always take a backup beforehand. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] if SD commands work too. Even the internal memory's region containing all files and folders can be copied to SD by a similar fashion: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

There may be other things missing which WebUpdater or GarminExpress might provide but they will never offer another basemap (gmapbmap.img). Any version of basemap will work mostly, however as you now have lots of space on the device you can use the latest and largest WW basemap: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

As Butters said there was no reason to format your internal memory.
