Convert fenix 5S/5/5X Plus to D2 Delta S/Delta/Delta PX

Just got a fenix 5x and love it but saw that the D2 Delta as more features and ones I would use... If I flash the firmware would I loose my settings mapsa and apps? Can I still use the connect app? and can I actually play music through the watch?

The D2 firmware has all the features of the fenix firmware with the aviation stuff added on top. So you won’t lose functionality. And if you convert your watch, all settings and apps will stay.

Sorry for just double checking..... So no settings/apps/watchfaces or widgets etc will be lost? also does the music function work?

Finaly.. I am on the latest beta 23xx do I still use this file to convert? f5X_2000_to_D2Charlie_600.gcd (just needs rename correct?)

Wait, so do you have the fenix 5X Plus or the older fenix 5X (without "Plus")? Because the old fenix 5X only has "Music Controls" AFAIK? Those, of course, will continue to work with the D2 Charlie firmware.

Basically, as you can see from the filename, the D2 Charlie 6.00 firmware is based on the fenix 5X firmware 20.00 - so everything that works on fenix 5X with 20.00 works on the D2 Charlie 6.00.

To convert, you'd have to downgrade to 20.00 first, WHICH WILL DELETE EVERYTHING. Or you wait until the next release version and a bit more until the D2 Charlie firmware gets updated at which point I'll create a new conversion firmware.

Apologies for the confusion I had always stated I have the Fenix 5x( Fenix 5x sapphire ).. As to downgrading and losing everything I think I will wait till the next firmware update you do( I know the current stock is 22.40 for fenix 5x and 23.71 is beta). Looking forward to you updating the mega packages....

One thing I will say is according to the garmin site all Deltas have ability to store and play music which is why I asked about it..

The Delta, yes, as it is based on the fenix 5 Plus series. But you’ll convert to the D2 Charlie. These are compatible hardwares:

* fenix <=> D2
* fenix 3 <=> D2 Bravo
* fenix 5X <=> D2 Charlie
* fenix 5S/5/5X Plus <=> D2 Delta

Since you have the 5X you can only turn it into a D2 Charlie and that one doesn’t have music storage either.

Now I see the confusion on my part... The thread title doesn't make mention of the Charlie only the delta so I assumed I was converting to a Delta watch not the charlie.... So I have been basing my assumptions on what I would be getting from that.. Now explains why the names in the firmware. I just thought it was an error or something... My bad....

May be worth changing title of thread a little and putting a small explanation in first post... Just a thought thats all

Hi, sorry to post on an older thread, but is there a similar conversion for a Fenix 3 HR to a D2 Bravo Titanium? I have a 3HR that I think would be fun to try my luck at converting. Thanks!

A little info for people converting to Fenix from D2 Delta or vice versa, if you go above v15 in firmware (I tried v17 beta) then the NFC wont work when you downgrade it/covert till to D2 v7.10. It updates the NFC for Garmin Pay in some way I have not been able to reverse. It works fine as long as you have the latest v17 f/w loaded. SO just a headsup!
