Firmware patch for Garmin Drive 61

I havetaken the originl .gcd file from my backup and converted it to a .rgn file using the RGN tool , then used the update program when the Garmin was attached to my PC. Everything goes well and i get a message that says "update sucessful" but whenthe Garmin restarts it is still the same "sysyem software missing".
What else can i do?

Sorry for the delay.

I got the original GCD file that i had copied from the Garmin . I used the RGN tool to convert it to an RGN file.
i renamed the file 258701000380.rgn and used the UPDATE.exe program.
It loads the file and says SUCESS but when the device restarts it still says "system software missing" What am i doing wrong.

Hi, I am at the same boat! I just flashed the firmware all OK, but when loading a downloaded map, "Cannot unlock maps"

here is my patched :

A message on start up "Cannot unlock maps" means you have a LOCKED map on board or in a media card. When using original firmware the message will be "Maps are corrupt and cannot be used ...." so it seems your patch is successful if you don't see that one. BTW, your Zippyshare file no longer exists there.

I hope thread is not so old. Who will help me to solve same situation as premmod's? I always get error system software missing, even after converting gcd ti rgn and successful update in pre-boot.
I tried to patch firmware and bricked it. :P So, someone please help me to revive a poor device? :P
