You must flash the device with the original firmware in the pre-boot mode. The firmware file in rgn format. Connect the device to the computer and wait for updater.exe to see the device!!! Then press "Ok". Do not press the top left corner of the display.

    Hi
I havetaken the originl .gcd file from my backup and converted it to a .rgn file using the RGN tool , then used the update program when the Garmin was attached to my PC. Everything goes well and i get a message that says "update sucessful" but whenthe Garmin restarts it is still the same "sysyem software missing".
    What else can i do?

    Hi
    Sorry for the delay.

I got the original GCD file that i had copied from the Garmin . I used the RGN tool to convert it to an RGN file.
i renamed the file 258701000380.rgn and used the UPDATE.exe program.
It loads the file and says SUCESS but when the device restarts it still says "system software missing" What am i doing wrong.
