Try with this pack:

Extract it on SD and add SD in nuvi and turn it on.
If this work, you will have again 14xx boot.bin

Unsuccessful. With the microSD in the unit, immediately when switching it on, it briefly shows "SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING" and shuts down.
I notice in the downloaded pack the presence of an (empty) update.log file in both the 0827 folder as well as the 0972 folder. Doesn't the presence of such file prevent the program from being executed?


Edit:
Tried the same trick without the presence of both update.log files. Same result. I don't think the unit is reading anything from microSD.
