You need to add one otherwise navigation errors may occur or the device will freeze when you zoom out beyond the capabilities of a detail map.

BTW, did you remember to hard reset or clear the nonvol memory after you recovered the dezl? If you didn't, that might be behind this strange behaviour you're reporting. Do that now, preferably clear NV as it's more comprehensive, look in Tutorial index: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Use F3 key in your browser to search that page for 'nonvol' and/or 'reset').

The map install was successful onto the USB thumb drive. Now what? I assume dragging everything over to the microSD card that would be inserted into the dezl 770? I'll wait for further instruction. Thanks again for all the help.
Move files if you want to the internal memory in accordance with the layout and naming shown behind the second spoiler here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Your device should use files similarly to nuvi 3790 shown there). HOWEVER: If you hadn't reset it or cleared NV previously, try to download the detail maps again from GE directly to the dezl after you've done so.

GarminExpress should offer them: Select the device on GE's home page >Tools & Content >Utilities ... scroll down to Optional Updates >Other Files. WU is much older and has less support for newer devices than GE.
