And remember NOBODY will ever complain that you give too much information, but we will if you don't give enough like in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] fair comment made after no less that 30 posts. Even one tiny bit of wrong or missing info can result in endless 'red herring' posts that waste everybody's time including the OP's.

I have received help in an other post with my friends bricked Oregon 400i and 450. I was able to use GarminCure, and flash my device with the cure, then the firmware to bring it back to life. I tried the same procedure with the 450 and all I'm getting is a pop-up saying that there is no available update for my device. When I move the pop-up window, I can see the updater wanting to start updating the software but the newest software is 4.20 for this device, and my 450 has 4.30, which I'm guessing was meant for a different device. My guess is, that updater wouldn't start flashing the cure firmware, as it thinks, that there is a newer firmware on it. My friend is not very computer savvy, so I'm not sure, what he did to brick this unit.
So here is all the info about the device itself. Thank You, in advance, and for your previous help NEIL and CATYMAG I will attach a screenshot of the pop-up on the bottom of this post.

    1) Bricked device MODEL OREGON 450 Firmware version 4.30, ID:896 Unit ID:3818xxxxxx

    2) Why and how the device got bricked: See top of the post

    3) Symptoms: what's wrong in your device: Displays "no system software"

    4) Does your pc sees your device: Yes

    5) List all the procedures you already tried to unbrick it and their results and errors messages obtained: See top of post

    6) Do you have Garmin USB Drivers installed ? Garmin: Yes

    9) Can you reach preboot mode: Yes

    10) Probably no , but do you have NV backup: NO

Are you using the correct firmware for Ox50, HWID 0896? If so, have you named it 089601000430.rgn. Is V4.30 the version presently on the Oregon? It's quite old, keep trying but if it refuses to flash you may have to use a later version, latest is V6.60.
