I had success catching the moment when flash proceeded. Updater popup reported ‘Updating Software In…. Drive Software Version 5.70
Updating…
100% complete 0:00 remaining
The satnav indicated ‘Software Uodating’ and remained in that mode.
Another updater popup said
‘ There is a problem with this Garmin application. Please press the button below to copy the log file to lipboard. Send via e-mail to garmin at etc
FYI That log file says
“App: Updater
At: 8/21/2020 10:21:55 AM (UTC)
OS: WIN32 Windows Platform, Major Version: 6, Minor Version: 2
Processor: Pentium Pro or Pentium II, RAM: 2097151 KB
IOU_UTILITIES.CPP-203-2.8”

The updater window remained open .. did not auto close.
I assumed the garmin had received the necessary flash file because the updater had reported “100% complete 0:00 remaining”
The Garmin still said ‘ software installing’
I waited about 2 mins.. still same message on Garmin.
I assumed everything had happened ok.
So next I closed the updater popup
Then I disconnected the Garmin from USB cable, Garmin still said ‘Software installing’.
I presumed it was in some sort of loop and just needed a reset so I powered the satnav off.
The tried power it on.
Nothing happens , complete blank screen. Tried with and without usb cable connected same blank screen on satnav.
I may have needed to wait longer even though updater suggested otherwise, or waited for the updater popup to also auto close.
It may be that I have now put the satnav in a non recoverable situation.
I was thinking next open it up and try disconnect and reconnect the battery ?
Any further comment or suggestion to try ?


Edit:

Opened device and disconnected battery, waited 2 mins, re connected battery. no usb.
Then try connect usb cable to computer , just blank screen when activating power on button and/or usb connected.
