Hi, thanks for that info. Just to clarify, is that over it as in right on the G like 34x0/35x0, or as in above it like 37x0/35x7?

RoTFL, are you kidding me?

I do not know why Garmin made it so hard to enter certain mode. Furthermore, why the different location? They also had to make their USB cable differently so it would charged. I'm not impressed!!!! Oh on a different topic, 2018.20 NA map is behaving oddly on my 255w, I thought it was the latest FW but I confirmed OSM map worked flawlessly. In simulation mode, Garmin map would gets "stuck" pretty much every single time.

Probably everything they do is designed exclusively just to p!ss you off. Not that it's all that hard to do.There's no good reason why different locations really, none that I can see anyway. Maybe they just want to keep the punters on their toes. They don't widely release the various methods of attaining preboot, they were found at our level by trial and error after they changed it in a new model. Have a look at the initial post here, the first nuvi series 3xx/6xx you just held the power key down. A couple of series releases later, nuvi 7 series can be an absolute mongrel to find preboot. Zumo 660 has it in the LOWER left corner. Drive devices need to be pressed just above and between the G and the A, reportedly.
Two possibilities, the device or the map. Hard reset it and if it still does it replace the map image.Oh on a different topic, 2018.20 NA map is behaving oddly on my 255w, I thought it was the latest FW but I confirmed OSM map worked flawlessly. Newbie questions, for 255W
1. How do I turn off (really turn off) the unit?
2. How do I hard reset it? But OSM map uses different map engine?
BTW, I found when charging, you have to wait (about 30 secs) after connecting USB cable, it will reboot to navigation and then you can turn off unit via power switch. Now I don't worry about screen "burn out."
P.S. Maybe Garmin considered entering pre-boot "unsafe" but still need to provide a way for their tech people to do it?

1. Maybe my memory is incorrect, but I thought that series doesn't have a standby mode and briefly sliding the power to the left shuts it down completely when on battery. However i think while charging if you slide the power to the left it shows the message 'Charging battery, slide the power key to turn on' or similar appears then it is in standby, or maybe it's just screensaver mode. If on charge and you hold it to the left until that message disappears then immediately disconnect the power source and release the slide it will go off completely. If you leave it connected it'll reboot however. That's all from memory mind you and mine's a bit shot.
2. Hold lower right corner while off then power on, follow the prompts.
About your 'BTW': Are you referring to the car ciggy charger or a 'generic' 5V power source, because if it's doing that with the car charger either it isn't a Garmin branded charger or the ~17-18 Ohm bridging between Pins 4 & 5 resistor has failed. See here:

About your PS: That's quite likely because you can do a lot of damage flashing in preboot if you don't know what you're doing.
I'm trying almost 5 hours to get Nüvi 57 in preboot mode but without success, always white calibration Screen...
What to do, how to do, already tried all possible ways...

To reach the calibration screen the device must first enter preboot so clearly you're using the correct procedure to start it in preboot. The sequence is this: The device enters preboot mode for a pre-determined time, if it does not receive any data from Updater.exe to initiate a flash in that time it will then default to the white screen. Modern devices like 57 stay in preboot for a very short time.
So therefore your 57 was in preboot but didn't receive any data from Updater.exe in time. That might be because you didn't have fw loaded to Updater.exe before putting the device in preboot and used up all the time or you initiated the flash but the data wasn't received due to an unsuitable USB cable or an unsuitable USB port or Garmin Device driver isn't loaded to the PC in use.
So load the fw to Updater.exe, select the radio button next to 'USB Device' and leave the GUI visible on your desktop. Have the device fully OFF (not in standby) then hold the screen and power it on by connecting it to one of the PC's rear ports (not thru a hub). Immediately you see the device details appear in the window next to USB Device on Updater's GUI hit enter on your PCV keyboard or click 'OK' on the GUI. Keep holding the screen firmly until the flash finishes or at least until 'Software Loading' or similar appears on the device screen.
You can easily check that the device is being seen by the PC in preboot rather than MSM by having Device Manager open and watch where it appears.

Everything is like you have explain and I'm doing but want to go in preboot mode.
Funny thing is that I'm not doing this for the first time.
Finally firmware loaded...
OK or Enter must be pressed before device appears on GUI but just before appears, not to early or not to late!
