Thanks for the offer. I'm fully aware of what is and isn't available re search of pois with unlocked maps, ie showing on map and finding with near option but greyed out kb when attempting a search.

As stated earlier, this is a 'pie in the sky' theory that i would test myself if i still had access to a 06-08 wing. My 'theory/suspicion' is based on the knowledge that in Garmin units the pois are available even if that map is deselected, but only if another map covering the same area is active. Because it's possible to have two different maps such as AU Sensis and Navteq, or China Pinyin and Chinese, with only one selected but still able to use the pois of the deselected map for search i'm hopeful that the search keyboard may reactive if a genuine non-NT map is combined with a small portion of a more recent NT.

No problem using any unlocked maps latest or earlier with fw v4.5, 4.6 & 4.7 other than the lack of poi search.
