Lol, sorry to force you back to the IT stone age. Truthfully, I loved XP with a passion [other than the 64 bit version, it truly sucked for practical purposes]. Skipped Vista, liked 7 and am now a fully-fledged card-carrying fanatical supporter of Win 8.1. I sometimes boot into XP and 7 for fun to remind me how good 8 really is .... Take your time buddy [you might need it].
You could just try a direct copy of the data onto the other card, but i doubt it'll work because of the possible block-write protection on the original CF as discussed [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I'm not even sure making a RAW copy will overcome that problem. This is another good free utility if Roadkil's RAW Copy doesn't do the job:

Just noticed this thread. It is now 11:30 PM and I'm headed for bed but just installed 2015.2 in my 2006 gl1800. All unlocked. will check more in the morning. I will reread what you are asking for Neil and see if I can help in the morning.
loaded a 2gb card with 157 maps using mapsource. Had to leave out a couple due to memory limits. Hope this is of help for now.

I'm sorry but I may not be able to help. If you remember I bricked my original nav unit. So I don't have a garmin/honda licensed mapset to play with in the new unit. I do have the original mapset for the old unit and will see if I can do anything with that.
Also the POIs do show up on the map and you can locate POIs near you by using the near option in the POI menu. You just can't do a search for POI.

@jinxxxxxx, we've got a couple of things going here I think. I finally got another 2GB card yesterday to experiment with...they are hard to get, at least a a decent cost since nobody makes them anymore.
My current map set on my '06 Wing is 2013.30. I was able to unlock the map set I have and loaded another 2GB card with it. Of course, no POI search, and the map set is outdated. But I'm still trying to locate a newer set.

links to the 2015.2 maps are posts on this board. I used then last night to update the maps on my 06. FYI i am anal about using the locked maps and generating the keys. Don't ask why I don't use the unlocked maps because I can't answer that. But the 2015.2 maps on this site should work in your 06.

Thanks for the offer. I'm fully aware of what is and isn't available re search of pois with unlocked maps, ie showing on map and finding with near option but greyed out kb when attempting a search.

I have a working mapset of V7 non NT and 2015.2 that will load and work in my 06 GW. The 07 nonNt will search for POI and the 15.2 will not. Now if I can help please let me know. If not let me know also and I wont clog this thread.

Don't get the wrong idea, i'd value your help as well as gto49's - 2 heads are better than one. I apologise in advance if this turns out to be a total waste of time as it probably will, but you never know, crazier things have worked when tried.
Look back at post #392> for the gist of what i want you to try. I don't want to assume anything about your knowledge levels on using MapInstall to make a small local map from a recent NT and then combining it with a genuine non-NT locked to the wing's navi unit using GMAPTool.

For clearification. I have the original V7 mapset that came with the bike but the nav board was replaced. So that mapset was unlocked with a key to work with the new board. So I don't think I will prove anything by doing a raw copy. Will try to combine a mapsets from V7 and 15.2.
to see if it enables the POIs. I believe that is what you are trying to test.
May I suggest that some one that has a legal copy of the 2011 nt mapset for the 06 - 08 try this test as well.

Test #1: Clone original CF card to 2GB Sandisk CF card with RawCopy.
Result: Fail
Notification: Map locked
Next step: Test with another "cloning" program
Conclusion: At this point, any combining of maps to determine if POI search is enabled must be done on an original card.

Hope this does't muddy things but I can transfer/copy my oem maps to either of my CF cards and POI search is enabled. Created a mapset of just one area using the oem mapset and mapsource and the POI search is disabled. I am now doing a complete rebuild of the oem mapset with Mapsource to see if POI search is disabled.
