I guess Slovak text file.

I put a new original FW version 5.40 with Updater.exe. WebUpdater constantly wants to install the new FW 5.40, but my device is already update with a new firmware 5.40...

Previously I had installed a modified firmware (Japan) on the device and delete many files...

What's wrong? What files can I delete, that WebUpdater not reported the need to download FW 5.40 ?

Can you attach the GarminDevice.xml file from the memory of your unit?

Seems the japanesse FW has written additional information in the nuvi file system and in the GarminDevice.xml file there is some kind of japanesse characters. I read about similar problem in the polish garniak forum regarding modified SG/MAL FW for nuvi 12xx series.

Don't think this is something to worry about.

Ok, here what you can try to fix that. Perform them step by step.
1. Master Reset
2. Clearing of the nuvi Non-Volatile memory
3. Downgrade to version 3.90 then again update to 5.40.

FW 3.90:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

That kind of damaged GarminDevice.xml can appear when flashing with firmware file GUPDATE.GCD on SD card. Could be corrected by reflashing like ddabcd277 have described, but be sure to not use SD for it.
