There is no simple way to backup firmware but it is a good idea to backup all content of your nuvi to PC. Connect nuvi to PC by USB cable, it will be recognized as removable drive, and simply copy all files to PC.

All firmware versions for nuvi can be downloaded from Garmin, but there is no searchable directory on Garmin site. You can search for upgrade info like this one:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
You will find a link to firmware if you look at html source for this page

Some firmware versions can be found here:
    Code:

Usually you can flash older firmware version without problems, but there are some cases, when flashing is not possible or can damage gps.

Thanks for the information. I was trying to backup the firmware so I can try to change its hardware to Taiwan firmware as I will be using it in Taiwan next week. But I have yet to try to update it to Taiwan firmware due to I am unsure if I have the ability to get it back to US firmware.

Hi, Just wanted to confirm a few things:

1). Garmin has launched the Garminfone with Asus for Android, can we get this Garmin software for other Android Phones also like MotoDroid, Incredible etc.
2). If yes, Is it possible to use the Garmin India map files posted in this forum to use with this Garmin software.
3). If not, is there any other GPS software for Android phones with which we can use the these India Map files.

    Regards

Thanks for the tip. I'm new at this so I guess I am learning as I go.
I tried the fix but still am getting the same message. not sure if the problem is registry-related because there is no mention of the registry in the error message. it just says "there is a problem with the lebanon installation. please re-install lebanon and start mapsource again". results of the fix say 9 maps checked (lebanon included) no problems to repair. here's the report in case it helps in diagnosing the problem

No. Map name FamilyID ProductID Status TYP file

    1 City Navigator Australia v7 177 1 Ok
    2 City Navigator Middle East v4 241 1 Ok
    3 City Navigator New Zealand v3 178 1 Ok
    4 EAST AFRICA STREETMAPS V1 1095 1 Ok I0000447.TYP
    5 Lebanon V1_05, Al-Quhtani 5038 15 Ok
    6 OpenStreetMap Cyprus (2008.10.05) 7620 1 Ok OSM.typ
    7 SE Asia 335 1 Ok
    8 City Navigator Europe NT 2008 284 1 Ok
9 City Navigator North America NT 2008 244 1 Ok

Greatly appreciate your help. Thank you
