When I surf the city with mi nuvi 255W I barely see street names on display, just a few.
In maps I put most detail. Is any reason for this? By the way I have city navigator north america 2011.10 installed via mapsource.

    hello,

i have some custom prepared maps of Black sea in non NT format. i would like to use them in gpsmap 421 which unfortunately is not supporting non NT format.
is there any possiblility to compile NT format map out from a non NT?
is there any other solution you could suggest?
or maybe there is a possibility to edit bluecharts g2?

unfortunately bluchart g2 for black sea is very innacurate, and only way to sail safely is either to make a lot of correction in this map, or to make a new one from scratch (but here we have the NT format problem)

    thanks,
    Alex

I don't thing it's because of NT or non-NT format. Probably your GPS needs see maps, like blue charts. You can experiment with gmaptool. Load img to gmaptool, set advanced and experimental options, go to write tab and try to set TRE parameters to 0-4-23-empty. No guarantee, I can't check it.

If you are creating your own maps with cgpsmapper, then try option MARINE=X in [IMG ID] section.

There is possibility to change map into quasi-NT format with gmaptool, see join tab with experimental option set. But I doubt whether this solves your problem.

hm, i am not sure. i was trying to use "normal" blucharts from mapsource, but the unit is displaying: "map format not supported". what i know the difference between "normal" and g2 bluecharts is that the g2 are in NT format.

g2 probably are mixed, part is in NT format, rest in non-NT. You can try TRE parameters 0-6-31-empty or 0-6-32-empty, these values come from g2 vision.

thanks! changing TRE parameters helped a lot! now i can open old files in my unit! there is mismatch with some of the points but i will work on it!

I am creating my own maps, but how exactly i shall use the option MARINE=X in [IMG ID] section? in gpsmapedit there is only path to cgpsmapper. how can i set option MARINE=X in [IMG ID] section?

In MapEdit menu: File -> Map Properties -> Extras -> Add and insert Key: MARINE, Value: X
You can try also to input value B instead of X, see cgpsmapper manual.
