Bert started out asking for help with a problem updating his Europe map zumo ,which did not have enough space.
What was suggested by myself was to use a clone of the device on an SD card. As this was a clone all the files would compatible with his device. Editing the garmindevice.xml on a device can cause serious issues, an SD card can be unplugged and simply formatted if something goes wrong.
To make a clone, first make sure the lifetime map device's Firmware is fully up to date.
Make a copy of the garmindevice.xml from the Garmin folder on the device and copy it to a Garmin folder you create on a FAT 32 formatted SD card.
Unplug the device & plug this SD card into your PC, open Garmin Express ,if this device is already in the list right click & remove from Express. Use+ add a device update the clone device.
