Now we know the device type ,I've tried two zumo 590's both give the option of using an SD card

Either contact Garmin EU as suggested or what I would do is copy the garmindevice.xml from the device to a clean FAT 32 formatted SD card (clone device)and update it that way. As you have Lifetime maps they will be unlocked by GE for your device, rename and arrange the files. i would clean up the old device files and place SID SQLite & JCV files you download with the SD card (clone device) in their respective folder on the device.

Wonder why I don't get those options in Express then? Strange - and previous updates have been fine before this one, just installed, automatically splitting the files between the Zumo and the card.
My two Zumo are 590 upgraded to 595 firmware (years ago, always works fine). The one with 16GB internal NVRAM is of course an LM, and has updated to this version of the maps with no fuss. However, the one that won't update is a Harley Davidson Roadtech Zumo 590 also with 595 firmware. It has only 4GB NVRAM, and does NOT have lifetime maps - I need to unlock them. Thanks for the SD card suggestion - I'll play around with that once I get a little time.Last edited by bert smith; 20th November 2021 at 05:52 PM.
