    I think these maps are viewable down to the 0.8mile resolution of a Garmin handheld, any closer than 0.8mile, e.g. 0.5miles, and the mapping reverts to the road map.
    Raster maps have limited zoom in/out range when they remain readable.

    Actually it's just vice versa, rastemaps will disappear and show the underlaying vector map when zooming out. The exact scale-level depends on the map-detail setting on your GPS.
    I am sure you meant to say the same.
