is it possible to convert the gmapsupp.img to a pc install version (gmap folder) without losing the search function, or to make it mapinstall compatible. With GMapTool I can make it mapinstall compatible but like you say, the search function won't work.
How can I bring parts of a map to my gps from a gmapsupp.img (on a virtual disk) without losing any function?

Sorry no way, as written in a previous post, img contains MDR data (address index) but: (from Gmaptool Help)
Unfortunately GMapTool is unable to convert a MDR file from mapset into a format acceptable by Mapsource
