Had the same crashes, it is not Mapsource that's the problem, check where the maps have been installed. Mapsource will give you the directory path , click Utilities, Manage Map Products
Path I have quoted below is Windows 7, yours may be different
I found that the folder CNEuroNT_2014_mdr was placed in the C:/Program Data/Garmin/Maps folder where it should be inside the C:/Program Data/Garmin/Maps/City Navigator Europe NT 2014.400.gmap folder.
Once I placed it inside the City Navigator Europe NT 2014.40.gmap folder there were no more crashes and I was able to select maps and transfer to my device.
I have released version 1.8.0 of ImgTool.
You can download it on my web page :Spoiler: ImgTool 1.8.0
Main changes:
- support of JCV files : ImgTool can display the bitmaps (Raster Junction View and SVG Junction View), change the MapID and show some other details.
(JCV files can be associated to ImgTool)
- correction of a bug in "Batch processing : img files" : up to 2500 maps can be opened in one time; to go further, use the command "Add img files" ...
- Slovenian language file added
- some other bugs fixed
So you can see the differences between the two versions of the JCV file![]()

Thank sherco40 for greatest job! You have added really useful and powerful feature. But a hot spot that it is truly unique!!!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
If send map with MS where is problem. I always send whit MS, and I have no problems.
During the installation in Mapsource of the 2014.40 version, the CNEuroNT2014_40_mdr folder has to be placed in the same MAIN folder as the where msi-file is located to be able to install the map in Mapsource.
When you are downloading it, it's location is in the folder City Navigator Europe NT 2014.40.gmap.
Your download can f.i. be on another drive D, E etc
The msi will then correctly install the map in Mapsource; however when you THEN want to transfer the 2014.40 map (via Mapsource, not via Mapinstall) onto your gps Mapsource crashes.
To avoid crashes you must again copy the CNEuroNT2014_40_mdr folder in the location where Mapsource installed your map : c:\ProgramData\maps\City Navigator Europe NT 2014.40.gmap for windows7 or windows 8.
Stating twice that you have no problems, does not bring anything to this topic; it only beefs up the amount of postings you've placed
@VW2
That's fair comment if the correct interpretation of zakon's posts is that he's not having problems installing in MapSource because of using that workaround, but i think he means he's not having problems using an image in his unit which has been generated by MS, and he's asking what are the reported problems with images made with MS. If so, the short answer is MS is old and unsupported and simply does not handle large modern NT gmap folders very well. Those are meant to be used with BaseCamp & MapInstall exclusively for image compilation. There are differences in the way that MS & MI compile images, which can be seen in the resultant slight size differences to put it in the simplest terms. Any further in-depth examination of this 'problem' is off-topic however, and users need to simply forget using MS for compiling images of modern NT maps and just use MI instead. That advice is coming from me as a user who would prefer to keep using MS over MI. The problems may never surface or they may crash your unit during peak-hour in some large foreign city.

hey guys!
thanks for you hard work!! i really appreciate it!
Here's the thing:
I created an image with mapinstall (Macintosh version) and copied it on the SD-card(Garmin folder). But the map doesn't show up in basecamp?!? So i made some research an nailed it down to "setting the MS (Mapsource) flag"?? with gmaptool!! is this the right solution?
gmaptool - tab WRITE - "check" set version in header - MS "0" - save with "write selected"???
thx in advance!
