You're probably just beating your head against a brick walltrying to fit all of NA on your 265W. Get yourself a 4GiB SD card and put it on that. With latest fw your unit will recognise 2 map image names, either gmapsupp.img or gmapsup1.img, but only in a folder named Garmin in the root of the card.
Otherwise, dl the gmap folder and you can take whatever you want as a smaller image using BaseCamp/MapInstall to install to the unit memory. US only will fit on it np for instance. Have a read in the Tutorials how to do it: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], scroll down to 'Have you downloaded a Mapsource GMap folder ?'. My personal opinion is to not put 'unofficial' unlocked maps on your unit anyway. Always better on a media card. If something goes wrong, take it out and problem solved.
